Position Available
Janitor / Custodian – Evening Shift
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Janitor/Custodian to join our healthcare cleaning team. This position plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect all Operating Suites (ORs), including equipment and surrounding areas.
- Follow established housekeeping procedures and infection control guidelines.
- Handle infectious waste according to facility policies and procedures.
- Follow proper procedures for Category I exposure tasks.
- Safely handle hazardous waste materials.
- Clean and maintain the OR storage room and housekeeping supply areas.
- Follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Maintain a professional appearance and work effectively with team members.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of housekeeping procedures and infectious waste guidelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for at least five (5) hours per shift.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 55 pounds regularly.
- Previous hospital janitorial or environmental services experience is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as some job sites are not accessible by SEPTA.
Occupational Exposure
This position involves:
- Category I exposure to blood-borne pathogens
- Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals
- Possible exposure to radiation hazards
A pre-employment drug screening is required as a condition of employment.
Compensation
- $16.00–$18.00 per hour
